Cars in the Park
The Sunday Tribune, Cars in the Park Ashburton, Pietermaritzburg, is the highlight event on the
Vintage Sports Car Club calendar.
Held annually, the next event will be held on Sunday 27th May 2018. This extremely popular event, the largest of its kind in KZN, and the oldest of its type in the country, is a draw card for motoring enthusiasts from all over South Africa, with over 1 400 exhibits, +- 100 food and Craft market stands and +-14 000 people attending the show.
Many interesting vehicles can be seen at Cars in the Park, and every year features antiques, veteran, vintage cars, vintage steam vehicles, tractors, bikes, trikes, industrial machines and much more.
The special events for the 2018 show will be “Racing in KZN”, going back to Roy Hesketh days. Other events will be a super car parade, Alfa Club anniversary parade, 4 x 4 display, and rides, UKZN display of solar cars, pedal cars, hover craft, special vehicles, model radio control displays, Caledonian band, and much more.
Cars in the Park, attracts a multitude of enthusiasts from various clubs such as Alfa Romeo,
Chevrolet, Ford, Jaguar, MG, Morris, Triumph, Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Ferraris, Porsches, Volvo, and Motorcycles to name but a few.
A beer garden, live band, craft markets and a free children’s playground area certainly makes for an entertaining and fun-filled family day.
Entry fees: Adults: R 50.00 Pensioners and Children above 5: R 30.00 Children 5 to 10 get R 40.00 free playground vouchers. Gates open at 7.00am and the show closes at 4.30pm. Various Charities financially benefit from the event.
